Sex workers and clubs depend on a good reputation. This is why protecting their own health and the health of their customers is so important. Here you can find out everything you will need to know about HIV/AIDS.

 

Sexually transmitted diseases

There are several sexually transmitted diseases. Some are more difficult to catch – such as HIV/AIDS. A condom will protect you against HIV..

Some diseases are more infectious and occur more often. For instance syphilis, Chlamydia and gonorrhoea.

Some indications that you might have become infected

You might have a sexually transmitted disease if:

  • there is pain when urinating
  • there is some smelly, yellow-green or clear discharge from your penis
  • there is blistering, a rash, warts on your penis, or it is itching
  • if your skin and eyes look yellow (Hepatitis)

However, there are also some diseases which you hardly notice, or won’t notice at all. These diseases are still infectious during sex beim Sex! These diseases sometimes have late-onset consequences, such as sterility.

Visit a doctor if you think you might have a sexually transmitted disease. You can also visit your Department of Public Health (Gesundheitsamt) to have an STD check-up. However, such a check-up will cost you money.

Tests & treatment

A dermatologist can help with a sexual transmitted disease. An urologist can help with diseases of your penis.

If you need help to find a doctor, you can also ask at the AIDS-Hilfe Trier about this. You don’t have to give your name to do so.

You can have yourself examined at the Department of Public Health (Gesundheitsamt) to see whether you have a sexually transmitted disease. This examination is called a STI-Check and will cost money.

Protection

If you observe certain rules, you can reduce the risk of sexually transmitted diseases:

  • Always use a condom when having sex with a sex worker!
  • Lubricants must not contain any oil or grease, since they will destroy the condom’s latex material. It is best to use a water-based lubricant. Silicon-based lubricants are only suitable for anal sex anal sex!
  • Have yourself vaccinated against hepatitis A & B.
  • Keep to a careful personal hygiene regime. This also means regularly changing your underwear.
  • No contact with warts, ulcers, blisters, weeping areas of skin or any skin changes that look strange to you.
  • When using sex toys, make sure to disinfect them properly!

Regular customer bonus?

Regular customers have or getsexually transmitted diseases too. Just because you have sex with the same woman most times, this can also be infectious, and you can still get infected. Familiarity sometimes leads to some men not using any condoms. But your partner will also have other customers. Be fair, and use a condom! This will protect yourself, your sex partners and also your sex worker.

With (French) kisses, there is usually no risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases.

Vaginal sex
When having vaginal sex with a sex worker, you must use a condom! There is a simple reason for this obligation to wear a condom: without a condom, there is a risk that a great many sexually transmitted diseases could be transferred.

Oral sex
If a woman gives you a blowjob, she can get infected with a disease. This is why there is also an obligation to wear a condom with oral sex, too. You can also catch a disease if you don’t wear a condom during oral sex. For instance Chlamydia or genital herpes. If you lick your partner during oral sex, you can also catch a disease. You can protect yourself by cutting open a condom and placing it across the vagina. There are also special latex sheets for oral sex and anilingus. They care called Dental Dams or lick sheets.

Anal sex
There is also an obligation to wear a condom during anal sex. If you have unprotected anal sex, you are exposing yourself and also your sex partner to a higher risk of sexually transmitted diseases. Condoms are always mandatory!

Fingering
If you finger a sex worker – either vaginally or anally – you should observe the following rules:

  • Always wash your hands after finger games!
  • Don’t touch the inside/outside of your mouth after fingering – and not just yours, but not the woman’s either!
  • After anal finger games, don’t touch the inside/outside of the vagina!
  • Finger nails must be cut short and mustn’t be sharp-edged.

Other practices
Some women also offer sex outside the norms. Always remember: Every sex worker decides for herself what she offers and what she doesn’t.

With anilingus or ass-licking, a variety of different diseases as well as intestinal worms or gut parasites could be transferred. Have yourself vaccinated against hepatitis A & B whatever the case. When licking, you can also cut open a condom and place it on top of her buttocks. There are also special prefabricated latex sheets for oral sex and anilingus. They care called Dental Dams or lick sheets.

Sex toys
When using sex toys, always follow the following hygiene rules:

  • Only ever use sex toys with just the one person! After use, always clean it using a skin-compatible disinfectant.
  • Put on a condom before vaginal or anal use! Change the condom for each person and every orifice!
  • NEVER enter the toy into the anus first and then into the vagina!
  • Coat in grease- and oil-free lubricant before inserting it.

BDSM and Fetish Games
Follow the following hygiene rules with BDSM and Fetish Games:

  • Do not allow any bodily fluids (for instance blood, sperm, vaginal fluid, urine, faeces) to come into contact with any open skin lesions or mucous membranes of the other person!
  • Sex toys and any objects which cause bleeding wounds should only be used with the one person!
  • You should be vaccinated against hepatitis A & B. If you are unsure, speak to your doctor.
  • Make absolutely sure to stick to the agreements made with your sex worker! It serves for both your and her own protection.

Fisting
When fisting (entering hand or fist into vagina or anus), follow these rules:

  • Keep fingernails short and without sharp edges, don’t wear any jewellery!
  • Use latex gloves!
  • Use sufficient amounts of grease- and oil-free lubricant! Use lubricant tubes not for several people at the same time!
  • Make absolutely sure to stick to the agreements made with your sex worker! It serves for both your and her own protection!

Urination games
With urination games (golden shower, “natural champagne”) follow these rules:

  • Leave to roll off! No urine to enter mouth, eyes or open wounds!
  • You should be vaccinated against hepatitis A & B. If you are unsure, speak to your doctor.

Faeces games
With faeces games (scat, caviar), a variety of different diseases as well as intestinal worms or gut parasites could be transferred. The following therefore applies:

  • Have yourself vaccinated against hepatitis A & B whatever the case.
  • Always thoroughly wash your hands after faeces games!
  • Do not put your hands to your mouth before washing them!

Urethra stimulation
With urethra stimulation (urethral play, cockstuffing) make absolutely sure to use a disinfectant and locally anaesthetic lubricant (e. g. Instillagel®). Use only sex toys or dilators especially suited for this – otherwise you could end up with a serious case of inflammation!

Joint drug use

Drugs can have some negative consequences, and you surely know that. So not to catch hepatitis or other diseases, please note the following:

  • Don’t share any syringes or other items with others (for instance tubes for “sniffing”) which could come into contact with blood!
  • Generally never use any rolled-up banknotes!
  • Be careful when accepting drugs from somebody! You don’t know the exact dosage they contain.
  • Alcohol doesn’t just lower inhibitions, but also your stamina. Many women refuse drunk customers. They have every right to do so!
  • Never take any poppers in combination with any potency drugs such as Viagra®! Otherwise this could result in fatal cardiovascular failure. With poppers, it is best to do without any alcohol, too, especially if you already have some cardiovascular problems.
  • If you have any problems with alcohol, drugs or medication, get some help.
