SOS – WHERE CAN I FIND HELP?
I have a chronic disease.
If you have health problems, say so! Let the sex worker know if you have diabetes, asthma, epilepsy or a similar condition. Show her where you keep your medication and how to administer it.
I was robbed.
Most sex workers and clubs value their good reputation! If you were still robbed, go to the police. Prostitution is legal in Germany, and the police is therefore not allowed to fob you off or even punish you.
Most sex workers insist you pay them in advance. This is totally common practice and not an attempt to cheat you.
But we did agree!
Reach clear agreements, and agree a price in advance! These agreements are then binding! Sex workers then still have a right to reconsider at any time and not to provide any additional services agreed either.
Accept a “no”even if you did agree! Of course you will receive the extra charge for such additional services back.
Something is not quite right with the woman!
Sometimes it is customers who help sex workers in cases of emergency! If you are with a sex worker and have a feeling that something is not quite Right, don’t just look away!
A sex worker needs your help if
- she says she was forced into prostitution, mistreated or exploited.
- she has been locked up, is constantly watched or her passport has been taken away.
- she says that she is in extremely high debt to the brothel operator or landlord, or that she has to pass on the largest part of her income to a pimp.
- she is not allowed to refuse certain sexual acts or sex without a condom.
- she has to be available to customer 24/7.
- somebody tells you that you could do what you want to the woman.
But: Not every prostitute is a victim of trafficking and forced prostitution! Not every prostitute in distress wants help! It is best to follow these rules:
- Don’t do anything against a woman’s will, don’t push her. Don’t turn to the police or Department of Public Order (Ordnungsamt) without agreeing this first. This could have unforeseen consequences for this woman. For instance if she is in Germany illegally.
- Ask the woman whether you should help her, and how you can help her. If she doesn’t speak German very well, a dictionary or translation app might help.

The condom burst
If a condom bursts, rips or slips off, the most important thing is Don’t panic!
You can find out from the Department of Public Health (Gesundheitsamt) or AIDS-Hilfe Trier what to do. You can speak openly; nobody will judge you or ask stupid questions.
Don’t wait too long, and contact the advice centre as soon as you can!
